Why would Councillor Clancey be involved in a block vote for Cllr. Shah, if Cllr. Shah becomes Lord Mayor he will assume an apolitical role and could not support any leadership challenge that Cllr. Clancey might make this year.

Cllr. Atwal has only been a councillor since June 2004, one year earlier than Cllr. Shah.

With only two candidates both being councillors with less than 10 years of office it is a bit of a shame that a longer serving councillor did not put their name forward.

If I were a gambling man, I would bet on Cllr. Shah having a substantial majority over Cllr. Atwal and I would guess that this was the last chance for Cllr. Atwal to become Mayor but there is always Cllr. Narinder Kaur kooner as a future Labour Mayor.
