I found it difficult to justify attending such a lavish event, with free flowing alcohol, all paid for by the taxpayer.

How can the Council justify spending money on such an event, which has no economic benefit to the residents of Birmingham, when at the same time we are closing childrens’ homes and making the unemployed pay Council tax.

Get rid of the Lord Mayor banquet AND the Lord Mayors Show – another waste of money costing £20,000 and raise zilch for charities..
